The Revolving Door
Former government officials who became lobbyists, and the corporations that hired them.
What is the "revolving door"? When senior government officials leave their jobs, they often take their contacts, insider knowledge, and credibility to the private sector , becoming paid lobbyists for the very industries they used to regulate. Canada's Lobbying Act requires these people to register publicly, showing exactly which corporations are paying to access their former government connections. There is a 5-year waiting period for the most senior officials (called DPOHs), but critics say it's rarely enforced.Hover over any badge or number for a plain-language explanation. Click any company name to see their lobbying profile.
